Rachel Leutkemeyer celebrates being a DAISY winner with the Fauquier Health team and family members

Rachel Leutkemeyer, RN was named Fauquier Health’s DAISY Award Honoree for the first quarter of 2026. The DAISY Award celebrates and recognizes nurses by collecting nominations from patients and their families.

Rachel, who was born and raised in Fauquier County, began her career as a nurse just one year ago, in July 2025. She works in the Fauquier Health Family Birthing Center (FBC). A DAISY nomination was submitted for Rachel sharing how she went above and beyond to ensure a patient achieved the type of birth she was hoping to experience after learning of some complications that required her to seek a new provider at 38 weeks pregnant. The patient chose Fauquier Health, and Rachel was her nurse.

“Rachel showed such a beautiful combination of care and good judgement,” stated the nomination. “As I progressed through labor, Rachel was calm, encouraging and supportive through it all. Each time I opened my eyes I saw her smiling face and heard her encouragement. She helped bring my baby girl into the world in a way that I will be grateful for forever. She has a true gift, and her patients are lucky to have her!”

“I love working at the Fauquier Health Family Birthing Center,” said Rachel, a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville nursing school. “My favorite part of nursing is connecting with patients and creating a relationship to help them through this time. Our unit is such a great community!”

Toni Maxwell, APRN, FNP-BC, Chief Nursing Officer at Fauquier Health praised Rachel. “To have been a nurse for just one year and already be a DAISY honoree is an incredible accomplishment! Rachel is a dedicated nurse, and I am looking forward to seeing her continue to grow.  Rachel and our FBC team are amazing at caring for patients who are going through a life-changing experience. I am proud of Rachel and all the wonderful team members at Fauquier Health who are so committed to giving the very best care to all our patients.”
