Fauquier Health Names Mercy Award Honoree
May 22, 2026
Fauquier Health recognized 21 employees as Mercy Award nominees during hospital week. The highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive, the Mercy Award is named in memory of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman. Mercy believed that a group of people working together toward a common vision can accomplish great things.
Nominations for the Mercy Award are submitted by staff at Fauquier Health, and are to recognize commitment to patients, fellow employees, and the community at large. This year’s Mercy Award winner is Teena Stevic, RN, BSN. A Fauquier County resident, Teena has been a nurse in the Fauquier Health Emergency Department since 2021, where she began her nursing career in the nursing residency program.
“The Mercy Award commends individuals who consistently go beyond the call of duty in serving our patients and our community,” said Rebecca Segal, Fauquier Health CEO. “While we had many wonderful nominations, Teena’s quickly moved to the top of the list. She has been recognized by her peers as someone who makes people feel seen and heard. Within our Emergency Department, Teena is known for checking on colleagues when they are sick, bringing in food to share during busy shifts and always offering to help without hesitation. Teena not only provides exceptional care to her patients at Fauquier Health, but she also volunteers in the community and has gone on numerous international medical mission trips. We are all fortunate to have Teena in our midst.”
Co-workers who nominated Teena stated “Teena embodies the spirit of the Mercy Award through her selflessness, dedication and heartfelt compassion. She not only delivers excellent clinical care, but also uplifts those around her, creating a supportive environment for both patients and colleagues alike. She is a true asset to the Emergency Department team, our patients and the broader community.”
