Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Chronic lung conditions can have a serious impact on lifestyle preventing you from functioning as you wish you could. With the proper support, you can improve your quality of life and learn to live more productively with your condition.

Fauquier Health’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is a medically prescribed exercise and education program for people who have chronic obstructive or restrictive lung diseases, such as COPD, chronic asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension. Patients work twice a week with a registered respiratory therapist who will monitor your exercise sessions and skills training. Individualized treatment plans allow for specialized care with a primary focus on breathing techniques to teach you how to cope with a chronic lung condition. Fauquier Health's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program recieved the three year certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVP) in July 2019.

Goals of the Program

• Help you manage and minimize symptoms
• Improve activity tolerance
• Restore confidence
• Improve quality of life
• Promote self-reliance and independence
• Decrease need for acute responses

Working With Your Physician

Your physician must refer you to the program and upon completion your physician will receive a patient report documenting your progress. Most insurance plans will cover the program cost.
