This year’s 2018 “Top of the Tree” Honoree is Mr. Wilbur L. Heflin. Wilbur L. "Will" Heflin previously owned and operated for 43 years the independent Remington Drug Company. His Drug Company has been recognized as the oldest one in Fauquier County and Virginia Piedmont region north of the Rapidan River.
Wilbur Heflin, the eldest of the 2 brothers, first started working at Remington Drug by washing dishes. In doing this, his admiration for his uncle and interest in pharmacy grew as he watched him operate the store and shared his wisdom. Mr. Heflin owned his first Pharmacy in Moscow, Idaho and later moved to Remington, Virginia in 1972 to own and operate his independent Remington Drug Company business.
Wilbur Heflin is well known and remembered for his civic, chartable and generous giving to all he served. It was important to him as a pharmacist to make sure all he served received the medicine that was prescribed for them.
