Intensive Care Unit

Intensivist Program Provides Critical Care Expertise

Fauquier Hospital’s intensivist program is in place in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. It means that the ICU has two physicians who are specially trained in critical care -- Sok Yi, M.D. and Trudy Kantra, D.O. – on site to care for patients who are most in need. Dr. Yi has been working as a hospitalist at Fauquier Hospital since early 2015 and is the medical director of the program.

For patients, this means that a critical care specialist will be on site in the ICU seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The intensivists provide expertise for all patients in the ICU in collaboration with the primary attending and consultant physicians. Specialists on Call provides telemedicine coverage from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with the understanding that the intensivists remain on call and will return to the hospital based on clinical needs.

Dr. Sok Yi

Dr. Sok Yi is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary and critical care medicine. He was president of the medical staff at Culpeper Hospital from 2008 to 2010, director of the ICU from 2004 to 2012, and operated a private practice in pulmonary medicine before joining Fauquier Health as a hospitalist in 2015.
