Cuddler Program

Due to overwhelming interest, the Fauquier Health Cuddler Program is not currently accepting applications.

Learn more about the Cuddler Program and listen to the WTOP News story.

Each participant in the Cuddler program must serve as a volunteer in good standing elsewhere within the organization for a minimum of 6 months.

The Cuddler Program is utilized on an as-needed basis, so Cuddlers must continue to serve in their other volunteer roles (typically 3-4 hours per week) within the organization while acting as a Cuddler.

In addition to standard volunteer requirements:

  • application
  • 2 personal references
  • background check
  • health screening, including drug testing and tuberculosis screening
  • attendance at orientation

Cuddlers must meet additional requirements, due to their direct contact with infants:

  • must be 24 years of age or older
  • more extensive background check
  • more extensive health screening, with the potential of additional immunizations or tests
  • flu vaccination
