Fauquier Health announced today that Rahul Dewan, MD, has joined its staff and will be offering neurology and sleep medicine services to patients throughout Fauquier County. Dr. Dewan brings over 10 years of clinical experience to Fauquier Health and is the second neurologist to join the hospital’s medical staff.

The CHNA process takes place every three years and was last conducted in 2017. It will consist of four parts – background information, community needs related to COVID-19, general community needs, and a section for community member insights. Over 100 vehicles drove through Light the Night sharing honks, waves and words of encouragement for the healthcare workers, police and Fire & EMS. Community members drove their cars, motorcycles and work vehicles through the designated areas and ended their route of travel by exiting under the American Flag which was displayed in between Warrenton and Remington ladder trucks.

Virtual visits that will connect patients and providers beyond the clinic setting. Dr. DeCastro shared, “We have to get creative in these unique times. Telehealth is an excellent way to keep providing the care that is needed for the patients. It keeps the providers and patients from unnecessary exposure to Covid-19. In the end it can also help patients stay away from unnecessary hospital and emergency room visits. We are currently offering same day visits.”

The da Vinci Xi System was designed with the goal of further advancing the technology used in minimally invasive surgery. Throughout Heart Health Awareness Month, Fauquier Health’s Wound Healing Center, a member of the Healogics network, will work to spread awareness about how cardiovascular diseases can affect the wound healing process. Chronic wounds affect approximately 6.7 million people in the United States and, if left untreated, an unhealed wound on the foot or leg can lead to a diminished quality of life and possible amputation.

Visitation restrictions will be in place during peak flu season, which generally lasts through the first of April. This month, Fauquier Health concluded one of the community’s most popular student programs, Medical Camp. Medical Camp spanned over a two week period. The first week of Medical Camp was held from Tuesday, July 9 to Wednesday, July 10. The second week of Medical Camp was held from Tuesday, July 16 to Wednesday, July 17. Each week consisted of a different group of approximately 20 students who came together to complete a series of modules and activities designed to advance their knowledge in the health care field.
