Junior Volunteer Program
The Junior Volunteer Program is a year round program run by the Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary. It gives young people in the community the opportunity to contribute as responsible individuals to the well-being of our community. Junior Volunteers broaden their horizons, acquire knowledge and expand their experiences by working in the hospital and observing the many varied and interesting healthcare careers represented. To be accepted and remain with Fauquier Hospital in Virginia, Junior Volunteers must be citizens in good standing in their community and students in good standing at school. An award ceremony is held in October for students who have served during the summer months.
Applications
The Junior Volunteers are selected once a year in a process which begins with an application submission during the month of March. Orientation is also mandatory and held once a year. You must be age 14 to apply for a Junior volunteer position, and 13 to participate in medical camp.
Fauquier Health offers more Medical Camp sessions in 2013!
Fauquier Health – through our VIPeds program – offers summer medical camps to area teens interested in learning more about a career in medicine. Our camp program started in 2008 with one camp session and 15 students and expanded to five camp sessions and 107 students in 2012. For the summer of 2013, we are offering seven camp sessions and can accommodate a total of 168 students. The 2013 registrations are under way through April 10.
Our camps are made possible through continued financial support from the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association and generous donations from individual employees – along with help from a committed and very large team of dedicated staff members who give their time to share their skills and experience with our campers.
