Medical Camp

Summer Medical Camp Program

Fauquier Health offers two-day summer camps for teens between the ages of 14 and 18 who are interested in learning more about a career in medicine.

Applicants must be 14 by the first day of their camp session.

Level 1
Session 1: June 12 & 13
Session 2: June 19 & 20
Session 3: June 26 & 27

Level 2
Session 1: July 10 & 11
Session 2: July 17 & 18

Each camp is two days in length, running from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Students who have not attended one of our camps before are eligible to apply for our Level 1 camp. This provides hands-on medical experiences where students learn to suture, intubate a patient, type blood, mix medications, start an IV, triage patients, take blood pressures, and harvest a cornea from a human eye.

Students who have attended a Level 1 camp in a previous year are eligible for our Level 2 camp. Students in this camp have the chance to apply a cast to their partner’s arm and remove it using the cast saw, extricate a patient from a vehicle using a cervical collar and backboard, practice injections and phlebotomy, and learn to place internal sutures and close skin incisions using staples.

Due to capacity constraints, students may only attend one camp per summer.

Acceptance is very competitive and is based on a brief essay.

There is now a $100 registration fee to participate with instructions on how to make this payment included in the acceptance packet.

Applications will be reviewed by a team of healthcare professionals who will make the acceptance decisions.

2018 applications are closed.
