Nutrition

Healthy eating promotes overall health and helps reduce the risk for nutrition-related diseases, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, obesity, respiratory diseases and orthopedic problems. Healthy eating can also have a significantly positive effect on the body’s ability to cope with medical conditions.

Inpatient Nutrition Services
The registered dietitians (RDs) in our Nutrition & Food Service Department provide nutrition education, counseling and meal planning services for our hospitalized patients. This often includes working with the patients to create nutritious meals that are both satisfying and appropriate for a specific medical condition. The RD staff is also available to provide nutrition counseling services for our outpatients.

Each of our dietitians is fully trained in the nutrition sciences, and each is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. To speak to one of our inpatient registered dietitians, call 540-316-4406.

Aren Dodge, RD, CDE, is available to discuss nutritional issues, including high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol.

Outpatient Nutrition Services
For an outpatient appointment, call the
Wellness Center at 540-316-2640.
