Fauquier Health Wellness Center offers an individualized and medically based exercise program using exercise, education, events and group exercise classes. No physician referral is required for most activities. For more information on classes and events, including our aquatics classes, visit Fauquier Health's Wellness Center.

- Your Childbirth Experience : Weekend Class

Time: 6:00 PM

Discussion oriented and interactive, the class covers much more than just labor. It begins with your feelings during pregnancy, contains a lot of good information about labor, reviews breathing techniques and relaxation, and includes a maternity tour.   Friday, October 3 class is scheduled from 6 - 9 pm. Saturday, October 4 class is scheduled from 9 am - 3 pm. Please submit mother's name only if registering online.  The class fee is $120.00 per couple.  Wear comfortable clothing.  In order to confirm your registration, we must receive payment no later than one week prior to the first class date.  Please disregard the request for payment if you paid online or through the Fauquier Health Cashier (540) 316-5814. Click here to register

Join us in the Hospital Main Lobby on Wednesday, October 8 for a Blood Pressure Screening from 12:00 to 2 p.m. There is no fee for this event. No registration is required.

- Stroke and TIA Lecture

Time: 7:00 PM

With Kristin Williams, M.D., neurologist

Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death and the number one cause of long-term disability in America. During this presentation, Dr. Williams will explain the difference between a TIA and stroke and the signs and symptoms of both. In addition, she will discuss the latest diagnostic tools and treatment options available and what you should do if you think you are having a TIA or stroke.

- Sharps Collection Day - Dispose of Used Sharps

Time: 9:00 AM

Fauquier Health will hold a Sharps Collection Day on Saturday, October 11. Residents may drive by the Medical Office Building on the Hospital Hill campus between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon to dispose of sharps (needles and other sharp instruments). Return sharps in rigid plastic or metal containers (no soft-sided plastic containers that needles can penetrate). 

 ***Not for businesses or doctor's offices, please.***

No registration required. This event begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at noon. Please enter hospital campus through Carriage House Lane and proceed to Medical Office Building on right for drive through service.

 

- Healthy Living Expo: Boomers and Beyond

Time: 9:00 AM

To celebrate the Baby Boomer generation and beyond, join us for our Healthy Lving Expo just for those 50 and older. Highlights include a fitness exhibiton featuring yoga, Tai Chi and Zumba Gold; cooking demos; health screenings and a seminar by Dr. DeCastro and Dr. Sullivan, Urologists. Door prizes will be given away. The event is from 9 am to noon on Saturday, October 11 in the conference area of the hospital on the first floor and the Bistro area. Registration is not required. If you pre-register you will be entered into a drawing for an iPad Air. To register, please call 540-316-3589.

- Babysitter's Training Course

Time: 8:30 AM

Safe Sitter - Written by a pediatrician, this program presents instruction in babysitting skills and techniques including childcare essentials, behavior management, injury prevention, safety for sitter, care of choking and babysitting as a business. Class limited to those ages 11-14 years old.  Students will receive a copy of the Safe Sitter Student Handbook and a completioon card in a Safe Sitter messenger bag.  Visit www.safesitter.org to learn more about the class. The cost for this class is $60.  

We ask that students be signed into and out of class by their parent or guardian.  Class begins at 8:30 and concludes at 3:30. Time: 9:00 AM

First Aid/CPR/AED (Adult, Infant and Child) is presented through the American Heart Association. This class will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday at Fauquier Health in the Medical Office Building, 253 Veterans Drive. Cost for the class is $85.  Click here to register

- AARP Driver Safety Program

Time: 9:00 AM

AARP Driver Safety Program , taught by AARP representatives, is the nation's first and largest classroom refresher for motorists ages 50 and older. Participants must attend both days of the class from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.(Monday, October 20 and Tuesday, October 21). The cost is $15.00 for AARP members and $20.00 for nonmembers. Registration is required. Please bring a check the day of class to pay the fee. Make checks payable to AARP and bring payment to class.  Please do not bring cash or mail checks to Fauquier Health. - Baby Care Essentials

Time: 6:00 PM

Topics include diapering, bathing, cord care, circumcision care, feeding methods, infant safety, and how to comfort your baby when it's crying.  Also hear from a pediatrician on normal newborn appearance. Grandparents are also welcome to register. The fee for this class is $25.00 per person or $50.00 per couple. Each attendee must register separately. Class meets from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Experiencing unexplained back or leg pain? You might be experiencing lumbar radiculopathy -- nerve irritation in the lower spine. The condition can usually be reversed with timely and appropriate treatments. Dr. Seal will discuss minimal invasive options for the lumbar spine, including nonsurgical and surgical treatments. Dr. Heller will address pain management
solutions for patients with lower back pain.

- Breastfeeding Made Simple

This class will teach you everthing you need to know about breastfeeding.  You'll learn about some common problems and mistakes and gain confidence in breastfeeding.  The class is taught by a hospital OB nurse who is also a lactation consultant. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost for this class is $25 per person.

- Breastfeeding Support Group

Time: 9:30 AM

Breastfeeding is a skill that is learned by both mother and baby and it does not always come easily. This support group will provide expert advice, help to build confidence, give support to mothers dealing with breastfeeding problems, help mothers transition back to work and offer feeding guidance to ensure that mother and baby are getting the most out of breastfeeding. Available for all the community including; first time mothers, mothers that need reassurance or suspect a problem, mothers of preemies and/or multiples, and peer support that can provide opportunities for more in-depth discussions and interactions related to issues that are facilitated by peer members.

This support group will meet every Monday (except holidays) from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the Family Birthing Center Classroom located on the 4th floor of the hospital. Please register by calling 540-316-3589 or Click here to register.
