In the field of emergency medicine, not only do our emergency department physicians need to have nerves of steel to handle the times when multiple patients present with life-threatening conditions, they also need to have a high level of compassion for our patients. During medical school, Dr. Chu received an award for his compassion and service to the patients at a children’s hospital in Delaware, and he’s continuing to build on that reputation at Fauquier Health. Board certified in emergency medicine, Dr. Joseph Chu uses a calm and reassuring approach that comforts his patients and helps alleviate stress.
