Dr. Tam Ly brings to the Fauquier Health team a wealth of expertise in the prevention and control of infectious diseases, including those related to HIV. She is also a specialist regarding the medical requirements for international travel. Dr. Ly is board certified in both internal medicine and infectious diseases. Each day, you’ll find her talking with her patients, listening and involving them—from diagnosis to treatment to recovery.
Education and Training
Dr. Ly earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 2002, after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Virginia.
Honors and Awards
Dr. Tam Ly was chosen as a Medstar Research Finalist during 2007 for her research titled “Impact on Clinical Outcomes of PNA-FISH Laboratory Data Translated from the Microbiology Bench to Bedside.” She was named a Fellows Grant Program Recipient at the Annual ICAAC Conference in San Francisco in 2006, and was chosen as a poster award winner for the Third Annual Rheumatology Fellows Forum in 2005. She is also a two-time recipient of the Washington Hospital Center STAR Award.
Dr. Ly is involved in ongoing research for “C-Reactive Protein and its Utility in Adult Patients with Septic Arthritis” and “Impact on Clinical Outcomes of PNA-FISH Laboratory Data Translated from the Microbiology Bench to Bedside.”
Other research Dr. Tam Ly has conducted includes: “Glucocorticoid Induced Osteoporosis— Implementation of Prophylaxis and Practice Patterns,” a retrospective chart review; and “Smoking Cessation and Education in Our Clinical Practice,” a quality improvement project and retrospective chart review study.
Prior to joining Fauquier Health in 2008 as a staff physician with Fauquier Health Infectious Diseases, Dr. Ly was most recently a private practice physician for Infectious Diseases & Travel Medicine of Northern Virginia. Prior to working in private practice, she was the clinical supervisor for the Genetics and In Vitro Fertilization Institute in Fairfax.
Dr. Tam Ly also serves as a panel physician at the Fauquier Health Wound Healing Center. She is skilled in the latest therapeutic methods in wound management and stays abreast of leading information through continuous training.
