Kevin Tate, MD
Family Medicine

Dr. Kevin Tate has always been interested in both the clinical and social aspects of medical care. During his residency program, Dr. Tate provided compassionate medical care to those who were underserved both here and abroad. He also worked with the National Health Service Corps in North Carolina where there was a shortage of health care professionals. It was during these times Dr. Tate learned how to effectively communicate with those in need of medical services. Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Tate is not only knowledgeable about the latest developments in his specialty, he’s also a great listener. For him, talking with his patients works much better than talking at them.

Education and Training
After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 2003, Dr. Tate completed the St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Internship and Residency Program in Jacksonville, Florida, where he also served as Chief Resident.

Certifications and Proficiencies
Dr. Kevin Tate is certified in advanced cardiac life support and neonatal advanced life support.

Honors and Awards
Among his many academic honors, Dr. Tate graduated magna cum laude in the undergraduate biology program at Mary Washington College. He also received an award for excellence in undergraduate chemistry, made the National Dean’s List and President’s List, and is a member of the Chi Beta Phi National Scientific Honor Society.

Employment
Prior to joining Fauquier Health in 2008 as a private practice physician with Fauquier Medical Associates, Dr. Kevin Tate worked with Goshen Medical Center in Clinton, North Carolina, through the National Health Service Corps. Dr. Tate is currently a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, North Carolina Medical Society, and the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians.

Personal Interests
Dr. Tate believes very strongly in volunteerism and has worked with impoverished populations around the world, including Thailand, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador. He also volunteers locally with the Fauquier Free Clinic, and enjoys reading, sports and outdoor activities.
