In addition to helping our orthopedic patients, Dr. Jeffrey Wise has a deep passion for developing health care policy and strengthening our health care system. Over the years, he has held multiple national and regional leadership positions, including board member of the National Association of Spine Specialists, chairman of the Advocacy Committee for the North American Spine Society (NASS), delegate of NASS to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Board of Specialty Societies, and NASS representative for the American Medical Association’s House of Delegates. He served in all of these positions because he believes every American should have easy access to quality care. Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Wise specializes in comprehensive spinal care, which includes degenerative and traumatic diseases of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine; cervical myelopathy; spinal stenosis; herniated discs; and minimally invasive procedures for spinal disorders. He also specializes in joint replacements, general orthopedics, and putting the needs of our patients first.
Education and Training
After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1993, Dr. Wise completed the Boston University Medical Center Surgical Internship Program and the William Beaumont Hospital Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program. Following, he completed a fellowship program in reconstructive spinal surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.
Honors and Awards
Among his many academic honors, Dr. Wise graduated with honors from the economics and pre-medicine undergraduate program at the University of Michigan. He is still an active member of NASS and currently serves on the organizations’s Advocacy Committee and Professional Conduct and Ethics Committee. In addition, Dr. Wise is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Jeffrey Wise joined Fauquier Health as a private practice physician with Blue Ridge Orthopaedic & Spine Center in 1999, right after he completed his fellowship program. In addition to having held multiple national and regional leadership positions, Dr. Wise is a former president of the Fauquier County Medical Society and served on Fauquier Hospital’s Medical Staff Executive Committee for six years. He also is a past chair of our Department of Surgery and has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and orthopedic textbook chapters.
Dr. Wise is married, has two children, and is one of two team physicians for Kettle Run High School.
