Douglas Markert, MD
Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology has been at the forefront of the medical movement toward minimally invasive, image-guided procedures, and Dr. Douglas Markert has been at the forefront of our efforts to provide these procedures at Fauquier Health. As an interventional radiologist for more than a decade, Dr. Markert specializes in everything from uterine fibroid embolization to tumor chemo embolization to peripheral arterial angiography. He was also featured in Oprah Winfrey’s O Magazine for an article about using ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy to banish varicose veins. Board certified in diagnostic radiology and vascular interventional radiology, Dr. Markert understands the importance of putting our patients’ needs first. That’s why he’s proud to work in a specialty field that results in less pain, fewer complications and shorter recovery times for our patients.

After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in 1994, Dr. Markert completed the University of Maryland Medical System Diagnostic Radiology Internship and Residency Program and the Interventional Radiology Fellowship Program, where he trained at the world-renowned R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.

He also scored in the top 10 percent of his class on the radiology board examination.
