Diabetes Self Management Education Class

Diabetes education classes help patients learn critical skills so they have better control of their diabetes. Fauquier Health’s Diabetes Self Management Education Classes are created especially for those living with diabetes and cover the American Association of Diabetes Educators Seven Self-Care Behaviors, which are:

  • Healthy Eating
  • Being Active
  • Monitoring
  • Taking Medication
  • Problem Solving
  • Healthy Coping
  • Reducing Risks

When you sign up for the diabetes classes, you’ll receive a free glucometer if you don't already have one. Once you complete the classes, you will recieve a free one-month membership to the Fauquier Health Wellness Center.

Diabetes Self Management Education Classes, which require a doctor’s referral, include a one-on-one initial appointment with a registered dietitian (RD), up to six hours of group classes and up to three follow-up appointments with the RD (all depending on your insurance coverage).

The diabetes management training program accepts Medicare and most insurance plans. Classes are now forming.
