Fauquier Health Wellness Center offers an individualized and medically based exercise program using exercise, education, events and group exercise classes. - Breastfeeding Support Group

Time: 9:30 AM

Breastfeeding is a skill that is learned by both mother and baby and it does not always come easily. This support group will provide expert advice, help to build confidence, give support to mothers dealing with breastfeeding problems, help mothers transition back to work and offer feeding guidance to ensure that mother and baby are getting the most out of breastfeeding. Available for all the community including; first time mothers, mothers that need reassurance or suspect a problem, mothers of preemies and/or multiples, and peer support that can provide opportunities for more in-depth discussions and interactions related to issues that are facilitated by peer members.

This support group will meet every Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the Family Birthing Center Classroom located on the 4th floor of the hospital. Please register by calling 540-316-3588.

Children with Autism can greatly benefit from Pediatric Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy Services.  At Fauquier Health Outpatient Pediatric Clinic we use a team approach in order to address concerns such as balance, coordination, strength, self-regulation, self-care skills including dressing/feeding independence, sensory skills, and language and social interaction. Please join us for a presentation from each therapy discipline that will discuss the benefits children with autism can receive from each service. This will be an interactive discussion with our pediatric therapy team where questions can be asked during or after the presentation.

- Your Childbirth Experience : Weekend Class

Time: 6:00 PM

Discussion oriented and interactive, the class covers much more than just labor. It begins with your feelings during pregnancy, contains a lot of good information about labor, reviews breathing techniques and relaxation, and includes a maternity tour.   Friday, April 10 class is scheduled from 6 - 9 pm. Saturday, April 11 class is scheduled from 9 am - 3 pm. - Babysitter's Training Course

Time: 8:30 AM

Safe Sitter - Written by a pediatrician, this program presents instruction in babysitting skills and techniques including childcare essentials, behavior management, injury prevention, safety for sitter, care of choking and babysitting as a business. Class limited to those ages 11-14 years old.  Students will receive a copy of the Safe Sitter Student Handbook and a completioon card in a Safe Sitter messenger bag.  Visit www.safesitter.org to learn more about the class. The cost for this class is $60.  

We ask that students be signed into and out of class by their parent or guardian.  Class begins at 8:30 and concludes at 3:30. - Baby Care Essentials

Time: 6:00 PM

Topics include diapering, bathing, cord care, circumcision care, feeding methods, infant safety, and how to comfort your baby when it's crying.  Also hear from a pediatrician on normal newborn appearance. Grandparents are also welcome to register. The fee for this class is $25.00 per person or $50.00 per couple. Each attendee must register separately. Class meets from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

- Breastfeeding Made Simple

Time: 10:00 AM

This class will teach you everthing you need to know about breastfeeding.  You'll learn about some common problems and mistakes and gain confidence in breastfeeding.  The class is taught by a hospital OB nurse who is also a lactation consultant. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost for this class is $25 per person.

- Unused Medication and Sharps Collection Day

Time: 9:00 AM

What do you do with the medications in your cabinet that have expired or are no longer being used?  If you toss them in the garbage or flush them down the toilet, they may filter into the groundwater and end up in our lakes and streams.  To provide an alternative to this environmental hazard, Fauquier Health will hold an unused medication and sharps collection day on Saturday, April 25.  Residents may drive by the Medical Office Building on the Hospital Hill campus between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon to dispose of unused medications and sharps (needles and other sharp instruments). 

·         Medicine should be in original packaging if possible

·         Personal information should be blacked out with a marker

·         Return sharps in rigid plastic or metal containers (no soft sided plastic that sharps can penetrate)

·         No businesses or doctor’s offices, please
