Fauquier Health Wellness Center offers an individualized and medically based exercise program using exercise, education, events and group exercise classes. No physician referral is required for most activities. For more information on classes and events, including our aquatics classes, visit Fauquier Health's Wellness Center.

- Breastfeeding Made Simple

Time: 10:00 AM

This class will teach you everthing you need to know about breastfeeding.  You'll learn about some common problems and mistakes and gain confidence in breastfeeding.  The class is taught by a hospital OB nurse who is also a lactation consultant. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost for this class is $25 per person.

Breastfeeding is a skill that is learned by both mother and baby and it does not always come easily. This support group will provide expert advice, help to build confidence, give support to mothers dealing with breastfeeding problems, help mothers transition back to work and offer feeding guidance to ensure that mother and baby are getting the most out of breastfeeding. Available for all the community including; first time mothers, mothers that need reassurance or suspect a problem, mothers of preemies and/or multiples, and peer support that can provide opportunities for more in-depth discussions and interactions related to issues that are facilitated by peer members.

This support group will meet every Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the Family Birthing Center Classroom located on the 4th floor of the hospital. Please register by calling 540-316-3588.

- Medicare / Medicaid Benefits Counseling

Medicare and Medicaid Benefits Counseling
Thursday, May 7, 1 to 3 p.m.
Chestnut Room
Receive Medicare and Medicaid benefits counseling from Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program counselors.  They will help explain Medicare for individuals over 65, disabled beneficiaries under 65; Medicare Parts A, B and D; and Medicaid Savings programs.  Registration is required, but attendance is free. - Babysitter's Training Course

Time: 8:30 AM

Safe Sitter - Written by a pediatrician, this program presents instruction in babysitting skills and techniques including childcare essentials, behavior management, injury prevention, safety for sitter, care of choking and babysitting as a business. Class limited to those ages 11-14 years old.  Students will receive a copy of the Safe Sitter Student Handbook and a completioon card in a Safe Sitter messenger bag.  Visit www.safesitter.org to learn more about the class. The cost for this class is $60.  

We ask that students be signed into and out of class by their parent or guardian.  Class begins at 8:30 and concludes at 3:30. Learn the basics of cooking and nutrition using freshly grown ingredients with our executive chef. For ages 10-18. From 9am to noon held in the Fauquier Hospital Bistro on the Hill. Registration required, $45.00 per person. Click here to register

- AARP Driver Safety Program

Time: 9:00 AM

AARP Driver Safety Program , taught by AARP representatives, is the nation's first and largest classroom refresher for motorists ages 50 and older. Participants must attend both days of the class from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.(Monday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 12). The cost is $15.00 for AARP members and $20.00 for nonmembers. Registration is required. Please bring a check the day of class to pay the fee. Make checks payable to AARP and bring payment to class.  Please do not bring cash or mail checks to Fauquier Health. Call 540-316-3588 to register. You are welcome to purchase lunch in the hospital's Bistro On the Hill restaurant.

Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death and the number one cause of long-term disability in America. During this presentation, Dr. Williams will explain the difference between a TIA and stroke and the signs and symptoms of both. In addition, she will discuss the latest diagnostic tools and treatment options available and what you should do if you think you are having a TIA or stroke.

- Your Childbirth Experience : Weekend Class

Time: 6:00 PM

Discussion oriented and interactive, the class covers much more than just labor. It begins with your feelings during pregnancy, contains a lot of good information about labor, reviews breathing techniques and relaxation, and includes a maternity tour.   Friday, May 15 class is scheduled from 6 - 9 pm. Saturday, May 16 class is scheduled from 9 am - 3 pm. - Baby Care Essentials

Time: 6:00 PM

Topics include diapering, bathing, cord care, circumcision care, feeding methods, infant safety, and how to comfort your baby when it's crying.  Also hear from a pediatrician on normal newborn appearance. Grandparents are also welcome to register. The fee for this class is $25.00 per person or $50.00 per couple. Each attendee must register separately. Class meets from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
