Dr. Gravatte is passionate about helping patients who are the most at-risk and in-need of health care services. Whether he’s at his practice treating a child with ADHD, or at one of our area’s free clinics treating an elderly patient with heart disease, his level of compassion and commitment never wavers. Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Gravatte believes that a physician’s role encompasses much more than diagnosing and treating diseases. It also involves being an advocate for every patient.
Education and Training
After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1985, Dr. Gravatte completed the University of South Carolina Family Practice Residency Program at Richland Memorial Hospital.
Certifications and Proficiencies
Dr. Gravatte is certified in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support, and is an instructor for the Advanced Trauma Life Support certification class. He also is an associate professor for the Department of Family Practice at the University of Virginia, and has received extensive training for treating ADHD/ADD, cardiovascular disease, asthma/ allergies, and substance abuse (drug, alcohol and tobacco).
Honors and Awards
Among his many academic honors, Dr. Gravatte graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia undergraduate environmental science program. He also received the Medical Society of Virginia’s Salute to Service Award in 2005 for his volunteer service with area free clinics.
Dr. Gravatte joined Fauquier Health as a private practice physician with CMA Family Physicians in 1988, and has served on numerous committees, including our Executive, Quality, and Ethics Committees. He also served as the president of our Medical Staff. In addition, he has served on the Fauquier County Hospice Board of Directors, the Amnesty International Physicians Committee, and various education committees. Dr. Gravatte was the founding medical director for the Fauquier Free Clinic, and is currently a volunteer physician for the Free Clinic of Culpeper.
Dr. Gravatte is married, has three children, and is active in his church and rotary club.
