Joshua Jakum MD
Pediatrics

One of the most important qualities for a pediatrician is the ability to listen. Dr. Jakum understands that a parent is a child’s best advocate, and he appreciates the quality and accuracy of the information parents provide. Board certified in pediatrics, Dr. Jakum works with parents to ensure the health and well being of every child. Each day, you’ll find Dr. Jakum listening to parents, addressing their concerns, and involving them in the decision-making process for the care for their children.

Education and Training
After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Emory University School of Medicine in 1998, Dr. Jakum completed the Brown University Pediatrics Internship and Residency Program. While in medical school, Dr. Jakum also completed an elective study in international family medicine, which included a clinical rotation in the Republic of Georgia.

Honors and Awards
Among his many academic honors, Dr. Jakum received the Marshall Award—an award given for campus and community leadership—from the University of Maryland, where he graduated magna cum laude in the undergraduate physiology and neurobiology program. He also was elected a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and has been featured as a “Top Doctor” in Washingtonian Magazine.
